The Inn on South Lake Introduction - About the Building | |
|
The Inn was originally built in 1890 in the Victorian style.
The main floor houses the library with fireplace, wood beamed ceiling, stained glass windows
over built-in bookcases with leaded glass doors; the dining room with window seat, cherry
paneling with plate rail, box-beamed ceiling and stained glass window; a butler's pantry
located adjacent to the dining room; and the living room with ornate woodwork and a stained glass window. The second floor has five large bedrooms, three with private baths and two that share a bath. Window air-conditioning units are installed during the summer months. Off-street parking is available for 4-5 cars in the rear of The Inn. An enclosed front and rear porch and a large yard are available for use. Guests are invited to use the first two floors of the house. Longer-term guests have use of the shared kitchen and laundry (washer/dryer). Free wireless internet access and free local telephone calls are available to all guests. To-date, The Inn has housed many international Fellows participating in programs at area institutions; seminar speakers; visiting faculty candidates and graduate applicants; and guests visiting the Albany area not affiliated with any of the area institutions. |
